The attack came as fears are mounting about Moscow's intentions to devastate Ukraine's power generation capacity ahead of the cold winter.

"We strongly condemn the violation of Moldova’s airspace by Russia’s missiles and drones targeting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure today," Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi said.

Russia launched a massive aerial assault on Ukraine Sunday, firing 120 missiles and 90 drones that killed at least seven people and caused widespread power outages. The strikes, the largest in nearly three months, severely damaged Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, heightening fears of long winter blackouts.
