Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha died on Tuesday evening after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was 72. The Padma Bhushan awardee was admitted to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi for treatment at the oncology department on October 25.

Renowned Bihari singer Sharda Sinha, affectionately known as the 'Bihar Kokila,' has sadly passed away at the age of 72. She had been in critical condition and on ventilator support for several days following her hospitalization shortly after the death of her husband,

Sinha, who pioneered and popularised the rich folk traditions of Bihar beyond its borders, was undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Delhi for multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.
