BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Novak Djokovic won’t defend his ATP Finals title after ruling himself out on Tuesday due to an unspecified injury. Djokovic wrote in an Instagram story, “I was really looking forward to being there, but due to ongoing injury I won’t be playing next week. Apologies to those who were planning to see me.”

Djokovic’s immediate future looks uncertain. The 37-year-old has not played a match since competing at the Six Kings Slam exhibition. His last official ATP Tour outing was at the Shanghai Masters more than three weeks ago, where he reached the final.

Despite not playing too many tournaments this year, the legend had a chance to compete at the ATP Finals following a couple of notable results. Novak reached his tenth Australian Open semi-final, falling to Jannik Sinner after failing to create a break chance.
