The bribery charge against New York Mayor Eric Adams was brought by "zealous prosecutors" who spent years "casting about" for a criminal case, an attorney said Monday.

Public Advocate Jumaane Williams would become acting mayor and set a special election if Adams leaves office before his first term expires at the end of 2025.
