A series of volcanic eruptions of Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki on Indonesia's remote island of Flores killed nine people and injured dozens with searing lava and ash, as buildings crumbled and terrified residents ran for their lives in darkness.

East Flores, Indonesia: Indonesia will permanently relocate thousands of residents from around a volcano that erupted in recent days, killing nine people after spewing fireballs and ash on homes, officials said Wednesday.

Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency said Monday that at least 10 people have died as a series of volcanic eruptions widens on the remote island of Flores.
