State prosecutors in Georgia who are pursuing election subversion charges against former President Donald Trump urged the US Supreme Court on Thursday to allow their case against his former chief of staff Mark Meadows to continue in state court.

The Fulton County District Attorney's Office and State of Georgia has filed a legal brief with the Supreme Court opposing former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’ efforts to transfer his criminal case from state to federal court.

Former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance wrote on Sunday that if Meadows is granted the transfer, the Supreme Court may then be able to "extend the coattails" of Donald Trump's presidential immunity to Meadows and some of the other accused in the Georgia election fraud case.

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr is asking the state's Supreme Court to reinstate its six-week abortion ban, after a county judge earlier this week ruled it unconstitutional.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney wrote in his decision that the six-week abortion ban, which was passed in 2019 but went into effect after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, violated Georgia’s constitution. The decision allows the state to resume abortions up until about 22 weeks of pregnancy.

Georgia's Republican attorney general is appealing a judge's ruling that the state's abortion ban is unconstitutional
