WASHINGTON (AP) — A series of bomb threats across multiple battleground states and baseless claims of wrongdoing by former President Donald Trump disrupted an otherwise smooth Election Day that capped a tumultuous presidential campaign.

Polls stayed open later at a small number of voting sites in the battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Some of the polling places received bomb threats, had difficulties with voting machines or faced other problems requiring them to have extended hours.

Polls in a key Pennsylvania county will be open for an additional two hours Tuesday following a malfunction with ballot scanners.

Registered Florida voters are heading to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 5, to cast their ballots in the 2024 general election.

The former president is able to vote in Florida because his felony conviction was in New York, where felons are permitted to vote so long as they are not incarcerated.
