Burglars broke into the grounds of Britain's royal Windsor Castle in October and stole two vehicles from a barn, Thames Valley Police said.

Thieves broke into the grounds of Windsor Castle, King Charles' residence west of London, and stole two vehicles from royal land, police said, in a major breach of security.

King Charles and his wife Camilla were not in the estate at the time of the incident but Prince William and his family were believed to be at Adelaide Cottage, part of the Windsor Castle estate, the Sun reported.

The intruders entered a farm building on the castle estate last month and stole an Isuzu pickup and a quad bike, according to the local police.

The burglars did not attempt to enter Adelaide Cottage, the home were the Waleses live, but rather broke into Shaw Farm, one of the working farms inside the Windsor Castle estate. They climbed a six-foot fence to get in—an act which was possible following the removal of armed police officers at the gate,
