Met Eireann have issued a fresh weather warning for a number of counties as they expect snow accumulations overnight - check whether your county may be affected

Met Éireann have updated two separate Status Orange warnings for snow, ice and rain for five counties in Munster as "significant snowfall accumulations" are expected to fall. The national forecaster have updated the Status Orange warning for Cork and Waterford to a Snow and Rain warning, predicting heavy rain transitioning to sleet and snow.

Later in the evening, a wintry spell of rain will move into west and southwest counties with local sleet. Met Éireann said it will be another cold day with highs of 3 to 6 degrees, in light to moderate mostly northwest winds.

The forecaster has upgraded an earlier status yellow snow/ice warning for Munster and says heavy snowfall is now likely overnight and early on Thursday morning. The status orange warning for Limerick, Tipperary, Cork, Clare and Waterford is due to come into effect from midnight tonight and will remain valid until midday on Thursday.

The cold snap is on its way to Ireland and Met Eireann has issued a snow-ice warning for parts of the country. The status yellow warning was issued earlier this morning for Cavan, Donegal and Leitrim. As the snow and wintry showers move closer to Ireland there's always a chance that could be upgraded.
