A popular fast food chain is thanking veterans by offering them a free meal. As a way to celebrate Veterans Day this year, McDonald’s is giving away free meals throughout the day to both current and former military members on Monday 11.

Several Knoxville-area businesses are offering Veterans Day discounts or deals to honor those who have served in the armed forces.

All you'll need to do is present a valid military ID at any Grand Rapids McDonald's during breakfast hours and you'll get a free Egg McMuffin or Bacon Egg and Cheese Biscuit, along with a hash brown and any size soft drink, tea or coffee.

Since most of their restaurants are franchisee-operated, major quick-service chains such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, or Chick-fil-A don’t mandate a Veterans Day program.
