The T said it is working with state and federal agencies to determine what caused a train to derail near Lechmere Tuesday.

A Green Line train derailed during the Tuesday evening commute at 10 Morgan Ave. near Lechmere Station in Cambridge, the city’s fire department said on X.

A subway train derailed in Cambridge on Tuesday, snarling the afternoon commute and resulting in injuries, according to local fire officials and the MBTA. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

After a Green Line derailment near Lechmere station in Cambridge sent seven people to the hospital Tuesday, the MBTA moved to replace the line with shuttles as federal and state investigations examine the cause of the incident.

MBTA alerts riders that shuttle buses will replace service from North Station to Medford/Tufts until regular service resumes.

Firefighters said several people are being evaluated for injuries after a Green Line train derailed in Cambridge.

The buses will run between North Station and Medford/Tufts and Union Square in Somerville, the MBTA said in a post on social media early Wednesday morning.
