Google's Chrome and Android dominance could be shattered by US legal action. Bloomberg reports that the Department of Justice wants to force the tech giant to sell off Chrome after presiding judge Amit Mehta ruled Google's search monopoly is illegal.

"Kanter’s fantastical remedies like Chrome divestiture and AI opt-outs have no connection to the Justice Department’s original case, and requiring Google to share data with rivals will only make Google search worse for consumers," Kovacevich said, predicting the proposed remedies won't "hold up in court.”

So, no, I don’t want my Chromebook to run Android. I just want those two functional products to coexist and improve in parallel. Google can have a pet project behind the scenes where it tries to merge the two, but I don’t want to hear about that until it has full feature parity with Chrome OS — otherwise, just keep it in the backroom.
