The Charlotte 49ers have begun a national search for their fourth head coach after firing Biff Poggi Monday night. Why it matters: The program is investing $70 million into expanding its football stadium.

Interim coach Tim Brewster, a longtime assistant at various levels, became the Niners’ associate head coach before this season under Biff Poggi, who was fired Monday by athletic director Mike Hill — before the conclusion of his second year at the helm.

Following a fourth 30-point loss this season — on the program’s homecoming Saturday — Charlotte cut ties with Poggi. The former Michigan assistant posted a 6-16 record with the 49ers. Here’s what we know.
