A federal judge allowed the closure of the Charleroi Pyrex plant to proceed, rejecting antitrust violation claims.

CHARLEROI, Pa. (KDKA) — A federal judge has ruled that the closure of the Anchor Hocking plant in Charleroi that makes cookware like Pyrex can close as planned. The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General had filed for a preliminary injunction and asked a judge to stop the closure, saying that the company was violating antitrust laws.

A federal district court has granted a temporary restraining order stopping the closure of the Charleroi's Pyrex glass plant. The closure would result in the loss or relocation of 300 jobs.

The small town of Charleroi, long defined by its glass industry, is facing a tough blow after a federal court ruled this week that Anchor Hocking can proceed with its plan to shut down operations and move jobs to Ohio.
